A provocative magazine cover from Slovenia has gone viral this week, depicting President Donald Trump in a Hitler-like caricature. The cover, published in the January 9 edition of Objektiv, a weekly supplement of the Slovenian newspaper Dnevnik, shows Trump with a mustache resembling Hitler’s, formed by crude oil dripping below his nose. The cover’s subheading reads: “American Attack on Venezuela.”
Designed by Slovenian artist Tomato Kosir, known for his work with outlets such as The Guardian and Politico, the image has stirred significant debate. Kosir has previously created Trump-inspired artwork, including a cover depicting European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen with Trump’s hairstyle. Notably, Slovenia is also the birthplace of Melania Trump, the First Lady.
The cover’s timing aligns with Trump’s recent military intervention in Venezuela, initially described as an effort to dismantle Nicolas Maduro’s regime. However, Trump later indicated that there were no plans for immediate democratic elections, stating, “We have to fix the country first. There’s no way the people could even vote.”
Trump and Hitler Comparisons Spark Controversy
Trump has long dismissed comparisons between himself and Hitler, though critics have frequently drawn parallels regarding his rhetoric on immigration and nationalism. The controversy intensified after a December 2023 reelection rally, where Trump claimed illegal immigrants were “poisoning the blood of our country,” a phrase some pointed out echoes language used by Hitler in Mein Kampf.
In an interview with 60 Minutes, Trump said, “They call me a Nazi all the time. I’m not a Nazi, I’m the opposite. I’m somebody that’s saving our country,” asserting his stance against allegations of authoritarian tendencies.
Barron Trump’s Slovenian Accent Under Scrutiny
Meanwhile, a new angle has emerged concerning Barron Trump, the President’s son. Celebrity journalist Rob Shute reported that Barron is working to eliminate his Slovenian accent to sound more confident and to better blend with his American peers. According to White House insiders, Barron is “very focused on how he presents himself now,” amid public attention on his background.
