A senior Iranian official characterized the United States’ recent proposal to end the ongoing conflict as “one-sided,” but emphasized that Iran remains open to diplomatic negotiations. In a move signaling seriousness about peace efforts, Iran permitted ten oil tankers to pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, describing the gesture as a “present” to demonstrate willingness to engage in dialogue, according to U.S. President Donald Trump.

During a White House Cabinet meeting, President Trump announced the passage of the oil tankers, highlighting it as a positive step amid tense negotiations.

Meanwhile, Iran’s initial response to the U.S. proposal, which was conveyed through Pakistan, was that it was “unfair and one-sided,” a senior Iranian official told Reuters. The official indicated that a constructive path forward might still be possible if Washington adopts a more realistic approach.

In related developments, Iran’s Parliament is reportedly drafting legislation to formalize fees on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, a move seen as a response to ongoing tensions in the region.

In a significant escalation, Israel claimed to have killed Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ navy, whom Israel accused of being “directly responsible” for threatening the Strait since the outbreak of the war. Iran has not yet officially acknowledged Tangsiri’s death.

Amid these developments, sirens sounded across Israel warning of incoming Iranian missile barrages, prompting defensive measures by Gulf nations. Heavy strikes were reported in Iran’s capital and other cities, escalating regional tensions further.
