This diplomatic setback comes in the wake of intensified military hostilities. CNN reports that U.S. forces have successfully rescued a crew member from an F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet shot down over Iran. The rescued individual is alive, in U.S. custody, and receiving medical treatment, according to sources familiar with the situation. The whereabouts of a second crew member remain unknown as search and rescue operations continue.
The downed aircraft was confirmed by U.S. officials to be an F-15E Strike Eagle, a dual-role fighter designed for both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
